Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) is the first product produced by Qassim Cement when it started its production in 1400H (1979). This type of cement constitutes the highest volume cement produced by cement companies globally.

Qassim Cement actively pursued superior quality from the beginning of production for which it was crowned with the official mark of quality by the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) and hence became the first Cement Company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to get the quality certification.

Applications

Ordinary Portland Cement is predominantly used in the production of concrete where cement is mixed with aggregates (gravel and sand) and water to form a composite material which can be cast in any shape desired.  On hardening it becomes a load bearing element.

Concrete can be used in the construction of structural elements like columns, foundations, panels, beams or may be cast-in situ for superstructures like roads and dams. These may be supplied with concrete mixed on site or may be provided as Ready Mix Concrete made at permanent mixing sites.

Portland cement paste (sand and water mixtures) is also used in mortars for plasters and screeds, and in grouts which is squeezed into gaps to consolidate foundations, road-beds and other such structures.
